About us
Montanika z.s. is a small group of friends who have been building this project since 2013. We share a love for the underground and mining, an interest in geology and enjoy big challenges. One of them was the opening of the decades-closed Pepř Mine, which we make accessible from the Sázava River through the Václav Adit.
Our aim is to show the famous historical mine without concrete paths with working machines and thus to provide an authentic experience of the environment of an active mine. We will not stop at the basic route covering the entire mining process including real blasting and an explanation of the treatment of the gold-bearing ore. Already in 2024 we will make the largest mined out areas in the mine accessible by means of the first Czech mining ferrata. The unique areas of the Pepř Mine offer additional opportunities, which we also present on this page.

First Underground Via Ferrata in the Czech Republic Opens in Jílové u Prahy
The first underground via ferrata in the Czech Republic is now open. It was opened in Jílové u Prahy in the former Pepř mine, where gold has been mined since the 14th century.
